My name is Eszter Kovacs. I grew up in Budapest and have been visiting the city's thermal baths since childhood. What was once an unremarkable part of my weekly routine became something I wanted to write about when I noticed how little useful, practical information was available in English for people visiting Hungary specifically for the baths.
Most travel guides mention the baths in a paragraph or two. Tour operators sell them as a two-hour stop between sightseeing attractions. Neither approach does justice to what is arguably Hungary's most significant cultural tradition — one that has been continuous for over five hundred years.
What This Site Covers
Danesanete focuses on thermal baths, spa culture, and wellness traditions in Hungary. The guides cover practical visitor information — how to get there, what to expect, what to bring, and what most visitors miss. They are based on repeated personal visits, not single press trips or secondhand research.
How the Guides Are Written
Every bath reviewed on this site is one I have visited personally, usually many times over several years. I revisit facilities regularly to check that practical details — prices, opening hours, facilities — remain accurate. The dates at the top of each article reflect the most recent verification.
I write from the perspective of someone who knows these places well but remembers what it was like visiting for the first time. The things that confused me on early visits — the ticket systems, the layout of the buildings, the unwritten etiquette — are the things I try to explain most clearly.
Independence
This site does not accept sponsored content, paid placements, or press trips from tourism boards or bath operators. The guides reflect what I actually found, including the things that were disappointing or did not work well. I pay for my own entrance tickets, which I mention not to make a moral point but because it affects how honestly I can write about the experience.
